The Food Group

The Food Group, originally started in St. Peter’s basement, “seeks to alleviate childhood hunger in Sheridan County, Wyoming by providing nourishment to children.” They offer different assistance programs which are as follows:

  1. Weekend Food Bags: Bags of one easy to prepare meal along with fruit and some type of breakfast item are given school age children once a week as a means to help the family.
  2. Home Delivery: Families with trouble buying food and needing assistance can sign up for the home delivery program and receive a cooler with some meat and sometimes a seasonal vegetable or bread item once per month. The coolers are delivered to your front door step.
  3. Little Food Pantries: Small food pantries made from old newspaper stands and our found all around the Sheridan city area. St. Peter’s stocks one of these pantries at the front entrance of Sheridan High School. The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army’s “Harvest Food Pantry” is open twice per week, on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 am – 12 pm and from 1 pm – 3 pm. Commodity boxes are available at the beginning of the month until supplies last.

The People’s Assistance Food Bank

This food bank is located on Main St. near McDonald’s and is open on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm. They give bread, canned goods, produce, and pre-prepared foods away to those in need.

Lunch Together Soup Kitchen

The First Congregational Church hosts a soup kitchen Monday to Friday from 12-1 pm. People can receive a nice hot meal and kindness from those serving. 9 churches in the Sheridan area are on a weekly voluntary rotation to provide meals for those in need.

Travelling Food Pantry at Cornerstone Church

The travelling food pantry at the Cornerstone Church is open the last Thursday of every month from 10 am to 12 pm. In November, the food pantry is open on the third Thursday of the month because of the Thanksgiving holiday.
